Long Beach Beekeepers
Our August meeting is something a little extra. Member Paul Nelson is bringing his Flow Hive super to the meeting for a demonstration.
If you have extracted honey, you know it can be a sticky situation. Our popular honey extracting classes teach various methods for getting honey out of frames and into jars. Last year one of our workshops had an unexpected consequence - the mess convinced Paul to purchase a Flow Hive! He will share his experiences and what he has learned to make it a successful venture. Later in the meeting Paul and his Flow Hive honey will be our Honey of the Month!
We will also hear from Boy Scout Matthew Hong. For his Eagle Scout project, Matthew has taken on our apiary at the Captain Charles Moore Urban Community Garden under his wing. Hear about his planned improvements and fundraising efforts.
Long Beach Beekeepers meet on the first Sunday of the month and welcome everyone from the experienced to the novice beekeeper to those just curious about beekeeping. The in-person meeting is open to the general public. Members who opt to attend online will be emailed the meeting link and passcode.
Special thanks to EDCO Recycling & Transfer for hosting our meetings.
